The Axion is a subsonic .300 BLK rifle, and its short-range time to kill is the fastest of the rifle builds CODMunity lists. Dexerto ranks it S-Tier, CODMunity rates the Versatile build Absolute Meta, and wzstats places it first in its long-range category. The verdict for Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer on the pre-Season 1 balance: this is the rifle to work toward, even though it arrives late at player level 52.

Why this build works

CODMunity shows 255ms inside 10m, 327ms from 10-40m, 440ms from 40-80m and 540ms from 80-120m. Those close numbers explain the rating, while the long-range figure is the weakness, and the muzzle choice accepts it by giving up another 10% of range.

Recoil is the point of the build. The stock and underbarrel stack to a sizeable reduction on a gun with a listed vertical recoil of 48.9. The price is slower aiming, which only the laser offsets, on a base ADS speed of 260ms.

Its low bullet velocity also shapes the gun. CODMunity lists 400 m/s and a 20m hitscan range, against 615 m/s and 30.75m for the Han 86, so distant moving targets take more leading. Dexerto notes that the subsonic ammunition hides enemy skulls on kills.

Insider Gaming's 23 October guide reaches a similar conclusion by another route, using a compensator and two grips, and credits its version with strong recoil control and accuracy.

How to play it

Take fights inside 40m, where the time to kill is at its best, and use cover to pull longer fights closer. It fires 706 rounds per minute, so the 30-round magazine does not last long; the 3,333ms reload is a real cost if you get caught mid-fight. It loses at range to harder hitters: the Oden's listed 385ms at 80-120m is well ahead of the Axion's 540ms.

The Axion unlocks at player level 52 and maxes at weapon level 69, per Dexerto. Warzone Loadout lists two Apex attachments at that top level, the Axion Reaver and Axion Clearcut. Gamerfuzion describes the Clearcut as adding a chainsaw-style rear grip, handlebar foregrip, hip laser and canted hipfire aiming.
